Welcome to www.seventyeightrpm.com, this website uses the 78 rpm disc as a point of departure for a wandering exploration of musical, entertainment, the record industry and lifestyles from the multiple bygone eras of the first half of the last century. You will find MP3 files for each face of the many records in this large collection as they are entered. These are accompanied by a short article intended to illuminate something about the sound file’s background. There are also images and links and other stuff too.

The point of this site is to edify and entertain. It is designed for the random browser who wishes to get lost in a maze useless information. Look around and try to check out things that you may know nothing about and in which you are completely disinterested. Many of these recordings have never been re-released for popular consumption on vinyl lp or compact disc.
